In life there are a many rituals or celebrations that we have to honour or remember certain milestones in our lives.

Funerals are one of these rituals or times of remembrance used by most cultures around the world to honour the life of the deceased person.

But why? Is there really a need for a funeral ceremony?
A funeral is time of remembrance or celebration of the life of a loved one. It is a time when family and friends can gather together, in a supportive environment, to share stories and remember their loved one. It is an important time of saying goodbye and often people feel that they can’t move forward in the grieving process till the funeral ceremony is over. The funeral ceremony gives reality to the fact that the loved one has passed away. The funeral ceremony can bring closure while honouring the loved one who has passed away. It is a time of saying that this life mattered, that this person impacted us in some way. Saying goodbye is an important part in the grieving process, in accepting the loss, letting go and being able to move forward.
